M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Board and Department Announce May 2026 Events and Meetings

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George’s County Planning Board and the Prince George’s County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) announce their upcoming public events and meetings for May 2026. Prince George’s County Planning Board Meetings

The Prince George’s County Planning Board meets on Thursdays to consider planning, zoning, subdivision, and other matters within its jurisdiction. The meetings may be viewed in person at the M-NCPPC, Parks and Recreation Administration Building in Riverdale and via live streaming video. Public participation is encouraged. Everyone who wishes to speak virtually or in person at the Planning Board meeting must register online by noon on the Tuesday, two days prior to the Planning Board meeting. Written comments, documents, and exhibits must be received via email, hand delivery, or mail by noon on the Tuesday before the Planning Board meeting to be included in the record. Joint Public Hearing – (68-074-05) Weinstein House/Harry’s Market Proposed Historic Site Designation

Monday, May 4 | 5:30 p.m.

The Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the District Council, and the Prince George’s County Planning Board of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will hold an in-person Joint Public Hearing to receive public testimony on the Weinstein House/Harry’s Market (Documented Property 68-074-05). The joint public hearing on the proposed Prince George’s County Historic Site designation will take place at the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building, 1st Floor Council Hearing Room, 1301 McCormick Drive, Largo, MD 20774. The meeting may be viewed via live streaming video at https://pgccouncil.us/LIVE. Prince George’s County Planning Board Special Meeting

The M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Board will attend a site visit of the College Park Airport in advance of a future scheduled Public Meeting (Date TBD) on the proposed expansion of the Junior Tennis Champions Center. The site visit is free and open to any members of the public to attend. Parking is available on-site. The purpose of the site visit is educational. No business will be conducted during the visit.

Subdivision and Development Review Committee Meeting

Subdivision and Development Review Committee (SDRC) is a coordination and interagency meeting early in the development review process with the applicant and M-NCPPC staff, where the public can be invited to virtually view the meeting only. The meetings are held virtually and may be viewed via live streaming video. The agendas are posted online.

Virtual Office Hours – Port Towns Sector Plan and Sectional Map Amendment

Monday, May 4 | 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Join the M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Department for virtual office hours to discuss the Preliminary Port Towns Sector Plan and Proposed Sectional Map Amendment. Community Vision Walk – Central U.S. 1 Neighborhood Compatibility Study

The M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Department is hosting a Community Vision Walk to identify opportunities for placemaking projects in the Hollywood neighborhood. Residents and community partners will experience the current conditions of the corridor and brainstorm potential improvements in the project area. Brown Bag Lunch Series: More Urban Street Design Standards

The M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Department will host a monthly Brown Bag Series virtually via Microsoft Teams covering various planning topics. The session on Monday, May 11, 2026, will continue the conversation on Urban Street Design Standards with a panel of representatives from the Prince George’s County Department of Permits, Inspections, and Enforcement, Department of Public Works and Transportation, and the M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Department. Bike to Work Day

Friday, May 15 | 6:30 – 8:30 a.m.

The M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Department will join organizations across the Washington Metropolitan area in observing Bike to Work Day. The annual initiative promotes cycling as quiet, clean, and a viable transportation mode as well as encourages bicycling as a fun and healthy commuter option. Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Reception

Organized by M-NCPPC, the Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Commission, and other local heritage organizations, the annual Historic Preservation Reception will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Montpelier Historic Site, Museum, and Arts Center, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel, MD 20708. The Future is Suitland Celebration: Building the Suitland Cultural Arts District

Together with partnering agencies, the M-NCPPC Prince George’s County Planning Department will host “The Future is Suitland Celebration: Building the Suitland Cultural Arts District” on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Suitland Community Center. The event will feature a showcase of upcoming and future projects in the Suitland community, live entertainment, an art market, engaging virtual art activities, local food trucks, and more. Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Commission
