About the Initiative
Prince George’s County is undertaking a comprehensive effort to improve the efficiency, predictability, transparency, and coordination of the County’s development review process. This effort was launched on February 25, 2026, with County Executive Aisha Braveboy hosting the Development Community Charrette that brought together developers, County leadership and agency partners. The purpose of the Charrette was to identify challenges and barriers that impact development as well as to identify potential solutions that improve the development review process, strengthen urban design outcomes, and increase predictability across Prince George’s County approvals. The Charrette sparked the creation of the Streamlining Development Review Initiative and Work Group.
The Initiative builds upon recommendations developed through the Development Community Charrette, graduate assistant research, stakeholder engagement, and the ongoing work of the Streamlining Development Review Work Group. The goal is to identify practical improvements that support housing production, economic development, and sustainable growth while maintaining public accountability and regulatory oversight.
