The Prince George’s County Planning Department, in conjunction with the Office of The Honorable Sydney J. Harrison, Vice-Chair of the Prince George’s County Council, held a work session for Council District 9 (Planning Subregions 5 and 6), at the Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex. The project team discussed the most recent planning history of Subregions 5 and 6, as well as the benefits of a medical innovation campus using examples of medical innovation districts nationwide. Attendees were asked to provide input on what they believed were the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, pertaining to District 9 and also to the feasibility of the development of a medical innovation campus around the MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital on MD 5 (Branch Avenue), in Clinton.
