Project Description

The City of New Carrollton is working to develop a connected system of pedestrian and bicycle trails to fill existing gaps and improve access to major destinations. This network will link New Carrollton with existing trails and parks (see the 2016 New Carrollton City Park Revitalization Master Plan), supporting downtown commutes and promoting physical activity.

The initiative aligns with Prince George’s County’s Formula 2040 Plan, which aims to ensure trail access within a 15-minute walk for all residents. The study will assess current pedestrian and bicyclist infrastructure, identify deficits, and propose a comprehensive system of intracity bikeways, sidewalks, and natural surface trails to provide safe, sustainable, and equitable transportation options within city limits.
