Committee of the Whole and District Council Approval

On October 17, 2023, the Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the Committee of the Whole, held a Work Session on the Minor Plan Amendment. Planning staff presented its Staff Report, along with the Planning Board’s endorsement, for the consideration of the Committee of the Whole. The presentation can be viewed here.

The following week, on October 24, 2023, the Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the District Council, passed a Resolution of Approval of the Minor Plan Amendment. That resolution, CR-103-2023, can be viewed here.

Planning Board Work Session and Resolution of Endorsement

On September 7, 2023, the Prince George’s County Planning Board held a Work Session on the Minor Plan Amendment. Planning staff presented its Staff Report for the consideration of the Planning Board. The presentation can be viewed here.

After staff’s presentation, the Planning Board passed a Resolution endorsing approval of the Minor Plan Amendment to the District Council. That resolution, PGCPB No. 2023-95, can be viewed here.

Joint Public Hearing

On June 6, 2023, the Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the District Council, and the Planning Board, held a Joint Public Hearing on the Minor Plan Amendment. Staff presented the Minor Plan Amendment, and interested persons had the opportunity to attend and provide public comment, either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Minor Plan Amendment. Initiation of Minor Plan Amendment

On April 25, 2023, the Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the District Council, initiated a Minor Plan Amendment to the 2014 Approved Southern Green Line Station Area Sector Plan through CR-026-2023.

Overview

The purpose of this Minor Plan Amendment to the 2014 Approved Southern Green Line Station Area Sector Plan is to include policies and strategies from the 2013 Approved Central Branch Avenue Corridor Revitalization Sector Plan that are specific to Suitland Road, which is a shared boundary between both plans. This Minor Plan Amendment is intended to correct an administrative error in the initiation and approval of the 2014 Southern Green Line Plan.

This process was initiated by the County Council of Prince George’s County, Maryland sitting as the District Council through CR-026-2023, adopted on April 25, 2023.
