Speaker / Instructor Biography
Peter Shapiro, Executive Director, Revenue Authority of Prince George's County
Mr. Shapiro is the executive director of the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County, Maryland, a quasi-governmental economic development and development finance agency, and manager of County parking operations and enforcement along with other programs. In addition, he is an executive coach and consultant for MBA, EMBA, and senior executive leadership programs at IMD (Switzerland), INSEAD (France), SKOLKOVO (Russia) and CEIBS (China) business schools. Mr. Shapiro’s volunteer leadership roles include:
- Co-Chair, Urban Land Institute (ULI-DC) Regional Initiatives Council
- Co-Founder, Group Relations International
- Commissioner, District of Columbia ANC 3/4G
Past positions include:
- Founder and former director of the Rawlings Center for Public Leadership at the University of Maryland
- 6 years as elected member of the Prince George's County Council, including two years as Council Chair
- 2 years as elected member of the Brentwood Town Council
Mr. Shapiro is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S. African-American Studies, Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, Truman Scholar) and earned a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Organizational Behavior from the International Forum for Social Innovation (Paris, France). He has completed additional graduate work in American Studies and Urban Studies.
