The 2014 Pupil Yield Study of Public Schools in Prince George's County, Maryland (September 2014)

This study includes an update of the methodology used to calculate public school pupil yield factors to estimate the number of elementary, middle, and high school students generated by newly constructed residential dwelling units in the county. The study provides updates of the 2008 pupil yield factors by school level and housing type as well as the current public school clusters used for planning purposes during the development review process. Alternative Adequate Public Facilities Requirements & Review Procedures for Transportation

This study evaluates the county’s public facilities requirements for transportation. Recommendations are given for alternative public facility requirements and alternative legislation that will provide flexibility for managing traffic congestion where current public facility requirements and practices conflict with other goals of a targeted growth center or corridor.

Best Practices Survey for Economic Incentives (2011)

This is a best practices survey and assessment of national and regional incentives for commercial office space attraction and development. The study will identify appropriate incentives and provide guidance on their application in order to attract commercial office space to the county, including necessary variations for transit centers.

Economic Conditions & Changing Needs of Older Prince Georgians (2012)

This research will investigate the aging population of Prince George’s County. The objective is to identify the scope of their changing living conditions, the quality of life needs of residents who are 55 years or older, and the planning and policy implications. The research will present demographic and economic data regarding who they are, where they live, their incomes, characteristics of their households, and the challenges they face affording basics like food, housing, mobility, and health care, among other things. Current and projected future capacity of public and private sector programs and amenities for the elderly population will be examined and assessed. The economics, available community services, and other potential impacts on the growing number of active, healthy, elderly residents will also be assessed. The information and analyses will form a basis for planning and policy recommendations.

Economic Development Toolbox Update (2011)

The 2011 Economic Development Toolbox updates the 2008 Toolbox. The toolbox is a catalog of resources and information about available government and private sector opportunities for support and assistance in economic development policies, strategies, and projects. It provides a practical, readily accessible guide to elected officials, county agencies, local community and economic development practitioners, community technical assistance providers, private investors and developers, non-profits, community leaders, and the general public. The Future of Agriculture in Prince George's County Study

This study describes the transformation of agriculture and its potential in the county. The report suggests ways to retain sustainable agricultural land and protect farmers’ equity in farmland by promoting profitable farming. It recommends diversification and marketing strategies for farmers to transform agriculture into a viable industry. View Report

Golf Course Study (2013)

This study focused on two questions: (1) What is industry standard for the number of golf courses needed to serve a county like ours, and how does the county measure up?; and (2) How might unneeded or obsolete courses be redeveloped for other uses? Staff worked closely with the Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Department, Montgomery County Parks Department, and the Montgomery County Revenue Authority to prepare the needs assessment portion of the study. Special attention was paid to the county’s demographic characteristics and how they may influence demand. Staff will then perform a nationwide best practice analysis regarding how unneeded, underperforming, or obsolete golf courses can be redeveloped for other uses.
