Mission


The First Tee is a youth development program designed to impact the lives of young people, by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

It is our mission to impact the lives of young people in and around Prince George's County by providing learning facilities and educational programs, which promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.


About The First Tee Program


The First Tee of the Prince George's Chapter was established in 2001 and is operated by the
M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation.

Register for The First Tee Programs


All registrations must be done online, through the Parks and Rec e-store. No walk-in registrations at golf courses.

First Tee Certification


Each participant is required to attend a certain number of lessons and scheduled practice sessions; complete a series of golf skills challenges; pass a written examination and successfully complete an individual evaluation of life and golf skills.

The First Tee Program Levels


Once a young person has progressed through all program levels, he/she can become Ace-certified, focusing on setting goals for golf, career education and giving back to the community.

Player


  • Required minimum age 7
  • Introduces playing the game of golf with special emphasis on learning golf and The First Tee Code of Conduct, appreciating the rules and etiquette of the game and developing a game plan for golf and life.

Par


  • Recommended minimum age 9
  • Focuses on interpersonal communications and self-management skills

Birdie


  • Recommended minimum age 11
  • Emphasizes goal setting

Eagle


  • Recommended minimum age 13
  • Emphasizes resilience skills, conflict resolution, and planning for the future

Ace


  • Required minimum age 14 or entering 9th grade

First Tee Locations


Participants registered at any Prince George's County facility may participate in The First Tee programs and facilities located at Enterprise Golf Course, Henson Creek Golf Course, and Paint Branch Golf Complex.

Discounts


Participants may also receive privileges and discounts at all The First Tee member facilities. However, The First Tee benefits vary among chapters. For a current list of chapters please visit the official First Tee website.
